Founder, Mental Health Therapist & Educator

Marissa Raglin, MA, LCPC, NBCC

Marissa's academic and professional journey has been marked by a deep commitment to the field of psychology and counseling. While completing her BA in Psychology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, she had the opportunity to study abroad in Ecuador and India which furthered her understanding of culture, perspective, and intentionality. Marissa's dedication led her to earn a Masters in Counseling Psychology with a specialization in adolescent treatment from Northwestern University in Evanston. Throughout her career, she has provided counseling services in the Chicagoland area, working with individuals of all ages, from children to adults, facing a wide range of conditions and disorders. She is grateful to walk alongside her clients, providing a safe space to process challenges and offer insight to fuel next steps.

Marissa is currently focused on offering mental health education to all, her weekly class series are offered to middle school through high school students and adult clients who face various challenges. She firmly believes in the transformative power of psychoeducation, recognizing that by providing individuals with valuable insights and information, it can empower them to navigate life more effectively. Additionally, Marissa serves as the lead creator behind all Simplifying Therapy toolkits, which are designed to offer individuals practical resources and guidance for improving their mental health and well-being. Her dedication to education and resource development underscores her commitment to helping others live healthier and more fulfilling lives. In her free time, Marissa enjoys time with her family, being out in the community continuing her fathers legacy, reading, and being in nature! Marissa attributes some of her deepest healing to nature and being amongst the redwood trees or forests. Over the years, nature has been organically infused into her therapeutic practices! And she firmly supports the statement, worry less and hike more. 

Public Relations Officer & Color Code Personality Educator

Tena Raglin, MA

Tena’s teaching journey began in the San Joaquin Valley in California and continued in the greater Chicagoland area, including the renowned Chicago Public Schools system. With a Master of the Arts in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University, she has dedicated her life to education and has worked with students of all age groups, ranging from infants to college-level. Throughout her career, Tena has seemlessly integrated the use of Color Code Personality Science to understand indivudal motive and use one's strengths to achieve goals.

Tena currently serves as our Public Relations Officer, where she plays a pivotal role in managing public outreach and communication with clients and community members. She is dedicated to advocating for our organization's values, ensuring that our messaging is both clear and impactful. In addition to her PR responsibilities, Tena also serves as a ColorCode Personality Educator, conducting weekly workshops for adults and companies. Her belief in the importance of the Color Code theory extends to both educators and students, as it provides deep insights into the dynamics of relationships and the underlying factors that influence human interactions. Tena's commitment to enhancing understanding and communication through the Color Code theory is a valuable asset to our organization and our clients.

Intern, Mental Health Educator in Training

Julia Filosa

Julia is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Psychology at the University of Georgia with Minors in Sociology and Law, Ethics & Philosophy. At the University, she works as an undergraduate research assistant along with the UGA Motivation Lab focusing on how educational beliefs develop in students, and what parents and teachers can do to foster motivational beliefs that will help students succeed in their current classroom and beyond. In addition to her educational pursuit, her work with organizations that guide and provide opportunities for education and socialization to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have equipped her with the knowledge and skills for working with youth and in the field of Psychology. 

These experiences have led to her interest in mental health and mental health education, excited to learn more about the preventative side Simplifying Therapy offers. She is mainly interested in promoting Mental Health Awareness, hoping that its importance can be reached by all. She will be starting a Mindful Monday series on our socials to remind everyone that mental health care can be as simple as taking a minute out of your day for yourself. 

Internship June 2024 - August 2024
We are so lucky to have had Julia on our team over the summer! We are excited for her to finish her final year at the University of Georgia and enter into the field of psychology! Julia shared her highlight of hosting her Coffee with a Purpose chat at Limestone Coffee in Batavia! Amongst a small group of women, she navigated a heafty conversation and shared skills to help them reframe and redirect anxiety and overwhelm. We are so proud of all that she completed in her short time over summer break and wish her all the best!

Intern, Communications Coordinator

Katherine Smail

Katherine's educational background in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a specialization in Family Social Services, clearly demonstrates her dedication to assisting individuals and families. Her commitment to broadening her knowledge in the field, particularly in the context of supporting children and families within a clinical setting, is indeed commendable. In addition to her academic pursuits, Katherine brings valuable real-world experience as an undergraduate research assistant and her role as an after-school counselor in an elementary school. These experiences have equipped her with insights and skills for working effectively with youth. 

As an intern, Katherine's current focus on understanding internal family systems and challenges, as well as working directly with families, which exemplifies her commitment to making a positive impact in her community. Her aspirations and dedication align seamlessly with our mission at Simplifying Therapy, and we have full confidence that her passion and expertise will be significant assets in achieving our organization's goals.

We are so thankful to have had Katherine on our team during her senior year, spring semester while finsihing her studies at Northern Illinois University. Katherine shares her highlight of teaching her Supporting Families After Loss 9-week Course to the community! We are so proud of all that she acccomplished and wish her all the best in her new role as a Family Engagement Coordinator !
